Katoomba, definitely not Scenic World!

Katoomba
Scenic World I am not sure how the marketing people came up with this name. Seems to me we just continue to lose our Australian identity. It is Katoomba and it is about the Blue Mountains, Australia. I am proud of that but it seems our Marketing GURUS are NOT! So let’s all stand up to them and demand we talk about AUSTRALIA, it is beautiful but in my mind has never been described as the Scenic World. Wake Up Australia we are selling off the farm yet again using inappropriate language!

Despite the above we enjoyed our train ride which is similar to a funicula except there are not two trains, counter balancing each other, only one using mechanical controls. However, the steepness of the track ensures the need for the mechanical controls to hold the inclined elevator on its tracks to ensure no derailment while achieving a managed incline and decline over very steep terrain.

Alighting from the train we thoroughly enjoyed our walk through the dense rain forest to  Federal Pass so we were under the Three Sisters. A very enjoyable walk.
On our return to the train we also walked to the old Coal Mine before getting back on the train. At the top we decided to do the cable car over the Jamison Valley to view the falls and Mt Solitary. We then returned to the original side after a walk around the northern cable car landing. All very fantastic viewing Katoomba, Jamison Valley and Mt Solitary.

By this time we were over the thousands of tourists and returned to our van for a quiet lunch. Following lunch we drove into Katoomba, refueled the Nissan, had a mango smoothie at the Yellow Deli and then returned home for a roast rib eye fillet on the bone done in the Ziegler and Brown. Whilst in Katoomba we also enjoyed the Street art.

As the night settled in the rain bucketed down and the wind blew. In the morning we departed for North Narrabeen with the rain showing distinct signs of sleet and the wind strengthening!
